I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph; I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel light when you’re gone away
Severus Snape crashed into his lab. He was in pain, lots of pain. The Dark Lord was not happy with him. Draco should have finished the old man, even thought he knew that Draco was going to fail. He made his way to his privet supply of pain relief potion. As he reached the shelf he knocked over a box of papers from his time at Hogwarts. On the top of the pile was a picture of Harry Potter. He had taken it from one of the Creeve boys. It showed him laughing with his friends. Severus had always loved to watch him laugh. It showed him with a freedom that no one in the war could express. He wished that he did not have to be the one that took that away from him, but the old man had said that it would turn out all right in the end.
Severus sat in his sitting room with a glass of brandy and wandered about why he had always wanted to protect Potter. At first he had tried to hate him, but the time he had spent trying to teach him how to close his mind to the Dark Lord had opened up his eyes. He could see it now. He could see HIM now. He would help him win at any cost to himself. If only he could see Harry laugh again.
The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away
There’s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away
Harry Potter walked into the Ministry Of Magic with a box full of evidence to free Severus Snape. His friends didn’t get it. They thought he was just looking for something else to fight, and if that is what he wanted then there were many more noble causes. Harry just brushed them off and gathered all of the letters he had received from the Half-Blood Prince. Some were just information on the Death Eaters activates and some shared information on how Harry could be a better wizard.
Those last letters had made Snape into a real person, and make Harry question his motives in killing the Headmaster. He searched through the Headmaster’s things and Snape’s and found out that he was just doing what the Headmaster wanted. The Headmaster was dieing and this served two purposes. It kept him from suffering and insured that Snape stayed where the Light side needed him the most. Harry Potter was determined to see that Snape got the recognition that he deserved
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
‘Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel light when you’re gone away
The trial of Severus Snape was over. He was a free man thanks to Harry Potter. Who would have thought that Harry would save him? He had save Harry so many times that it just didn’t make since to him. He watch the boy, no, young man leave the Ministry of Magic. This would be the last time he could talk to him. To tell Harry that he was sorry for how he treated him, but he wasn’t that strong. He watched Harry walk away with his friends laughing and being happy. He could not take that away from him.
The day turned cold as clouds covered the sun. He knew that he was not meant to have the light of Harry shine on him.
